When Amy Spears moved back to Texas from Europe, she was immediately reminded of the southern hospitality and feeling that front porch sitting with a glass of sweet tea didn’t just exist in movies.
Shortly after settling in New Braunfels, Amy used the communication skills she had learned from being a news anchor to break into the world of event planning. She got her start at a gorgeous winery there before moving into the role of Catering and Events Director for the prestigious and exclusive Argyle, a lavish event and entertainment venue in San Antonio that was founded in 1854.
Five years and more than 400 parties later, Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer and forced to slow down. She took time to recuperate and spend precious moments with her two boys. As she healed and recovered though, she soon felt ready to jump back into the world of event planning with a new venture: creating enchanting and swoon-worthy experiences through her own business, Socials in the South, named after the southern lifestyle and hospitality she had come to love.
Drawing upon the lifetime of adventures she had while living in Germany, London and Spain, to her vast experience planning events at The Argyle, Amy transforms events and spaces into elegant and magical experiences for her clients and their guests. From weddings, birthday parties and refined soirées to corporate gatherings and gender reveals, Amy is the best in the business.
Amy and her two boys recently moved to the small town of Boerne where they purchased a small farm to accommodate their growing family — a miniature horse named Ryder who loves banana nut muffins, 17 chickens, 3 energetic goats, and a puppy named Ashton who Amy has lovingly nicknamed Smashton since he’s a rambunctious little guy.
Come meet Amy in person and you’ll see why Socials in the South should plan your next southern gathering.
